The restaurant was almost totally reserved, but they squeezed us in. The staff went out of their way to help and served us a meal that was copious and tasty.
The atmosphere was great I highly recommend this restaurant. We came back from our tour of the Rock starving and ready for a drink, but unfortunately it was that time of day when many restaurants close between lunch and dinner.
Someone told us to try El Faro and we were glad we did. We had wine, some tapas and salad and it was all excellent.
In spite of how busy they were, the owner even stopped by our table to chat. It was an all around great experience and I would definitely go back to El Faro.

I shall address the points one by one. Full day tour of Gibraltar from the Algarve. This is true. I was picked up at 5am and didn't get back until Enjoy a scenic drive through Spain's Andalucian region, including the Route of the Bulls.
This is also true. The drive was long, but pleasant, and we stopped off for comfort stops, so that broke up the journey. The guide did tell us a lot about the history of the region.
I had no idea of the Route of the Bulls, but that's a minor point. Spot Barbary Macaques in their natural environment.
This is true BUT we were only able to spot the macaques because we paid extra for a trip to St. Michael's Cave.
Marvel at Gibraltar landmarks such as St. Michael's Cave and the Rock of Gibraltar. Yes, I saw both the Cave and the Rock, but I had to pay 25 Euros to go on a mini bus to see both those things.
Learn more about Gibraltar's history with a visit to the Great Siege Tunnels. This was not included in the tour, either the main tour as described, or on the 25 Euro supplementary tour that we paid for.
Great value tour includes hotel pick up, entrance fees, and round trip transport. This is partially true. We did get picked up and there was round trip transport but we did not enter anything, so I have no idea which entrance fees were included in the price of this trip.
I shall expand on the above. When we got to Gibraltar, we had two choices. We could either pay 25 Euros for a bus tour round Gibraltar, or, if we didn't, we were directed to the public service bus No5 and told to take it to the bus station.
That was our choices. So those people who didn't pay the 25 Euros were left on their own for the afternoon. I paid the 25 Euros and we were directed to a mini bus.
Our guide from Portugal disappeared at that point. In the minibus we were taken to Europa Point, through the narrow streets of the town, and up to St Michael's Cave, where we had about 20 minutes to see the Cave and the macaques.
I thought we might have been taken to the cable car to get to the top of the Rock, but no, once we left St Michael's Cave, we basically drove back down the Rock again, into the town.
I believe we drove by the Siege Tunnels but we didn't stop and we certainly didn't go in. Watch this Trip Please enter a valid e-mail address Email.
